Good news about the Saginaw Valley region
The Hemlock Semiconductor group, which includes two Dow Corning Corporation joint ventures, Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation and Hemlock Semiconductor LLC, will invest up to $3.0 billion to expand polycrystalline silicon (polysilicon) production, a key raw material used to manufacture solar cells and semiconductor devices.This expansion includes an initial investment of $1.2 billion to build a new site in Clarksville, Tennessee, and up to $1 billion to expand current operations in Hemlock, Mich.

What is Good News in The Valley.com?
Good News In The Valley's goal is to communicate the good things going on in and around the Saginaw/Bay City/Midland areas that we may not have heard about. Recently, Robert Garpiel II, President of Garpiel Landscaping had a meeting with a local media marketing representive. During the meeting Rob asked about the possibility of touting good news regarding a perceived lack of attention paid to all the successful companies and organizations that make up the Saginaw Valley region. Garpiel, was stymied by the marketing reps insistance that persons primarily want to hear bad news.
Frustrated by a perceived lack of attention paid to all the successful companies and organizations that make up the Saginaw area, local entrepreneur Rob asked the folks at Catholic Federal Credit Union to help him do something about this. They came up with a simple plan that would help share all the good things going on in the Saginaw Valley.
